"Baharon phool barsao, mera mehboob aaya hai"- The Taslima Story

The line basically means, “Trees, rain flowers, my darling has arrived”, and nicely tells Taslima’s story. She is an average writer and wanted quick fame. She attacked Islam her book, Lajja or shame. She said that many practices were evil and Islam was wrong. Allegedly flower pots were thrown on her or something. It’s funny things like this should happen in a secular country like India, which has survived only because of bonds holding people of all religion together.

What the hell have people got against Islam and Muslims???

They expect us to be weird and different. Many say when they come to know I’m a Muslim, “you don’t look like one”, as if they expect me to have horns.

We harbor terrorism and train terrorists. Muslim nations are apparently full of shit. All Muslims are backward. Beware of the Muslim with a beard, he may just kill you.

People have crappy images of Muslims in their minds and immediately think of Taliban and Osama when given the equation “Beard+Muslim”. I do agree that some practices are stupid, like the purdah, but let people wear it if they want to! Girls start wearing it at a small age and don’t mind it. If anyone is forced to wear it, I understand, but if someone wants to wear the burkha, let it be, OK? If they don’t want to wear it, they’ll stop.

Each religion has some good things and some bad things, but it doesn’t make a religion wholly bad. Religion has domesticated humans and given them an aim. It has shown them a path, told them the difference between good and bad and told them to do good things, be it through the fear of god. Come on, what sort of “evil” religion would tell you to give alms to the poor, not to kill, to hurt someone, be it physically or emotionally, and to be punctual? The Koran says that no one can get away with any wrong doing and that sinners will be punished on judgement day. What sort of “evil” religion stops people from sinning?? This “evil” religion has given faith, hope, perseverance, strength, order, an aim and a LIFE to many.

Taslima, go dunk your head and ideas in shit.

I agree with you to a certain extent, I am an theist so I don't really give a damn about which religion is greater or other things people do, but in my view religion itself is a problem each and everyone of them,be it Hinduism, Christianity, Buddhism, Zoroastrianism, Islam etc. Themselves promote blind acceptance this is a recipe for disaster. Take look at history and one will realise that religion is the weapon of choice for mass control why do you think that most dictatorships create theocratic states?

Also, I think that there is no relation between god and religion, religion is an institution to enforce what they call as god's will on everyone I wouldn't be surprised if all the humans claiming to be representatives of god were lying or were mentally unfit. Think about it religion is an institution based on blind faith and the deterrence of inquiry, can an institution like this with foundations made up of jell-o stand ? No sooner or later something somewhere will snap and it will come raining down on everybody's head.

Dude, Arwen, you've heard of people criticising Islam and you've written about it. But you don't notice all these HIndu riots, these VHP people condemning Valentienes DAy and Orkut. Yo haven't written about that.

YOu seem to want to believe that people have something against Islam, and only Islam. That's not true.

There are people who are Muslim and quite 'normal' and good. People know that too. But are you trying to say that the TAliban isn't Muslim? Are you trying to say that they shouldn't be treated so harshly? Well, girl, they're terrorists too and that is the reason they're on the wanted lists.

If people truly had soemthing against Muslims, you'd be jailed. You lead a normal Indian life and that obviously means that people are accepting you despite your religion.

Please don't write about something so strongly if you haven't seen both the sides.

i didn't say taliban isn't muslim, and i do know almost all muslims are normal and good, (normal and good??? where did u get that frm, r ppl usually abnormal??). i'm talking abt civilians, and normal ppl and not the taliban, dummy. They hld be caught and jailed.
don't close ur eyes and say stuff. i havn't said tht ppl frm other religions aren't mistreated.
find a line saying that
i'll write abt what i want AND not abt what u tell me to.this valentine's day isn't a current topic, i wrote abt taslima because this is happening now. i can't write abt every goddamn thing in the world. i'll write abt what i feel, you can write abt all that if u want.who the hell r u to tell me what i shld write abt??? let me be ok??
and what exactly is the other side that i haven't seen?

Listen I think that both of you should see the whole story first religion always has and always will be a method of mass agitation and control. Think beyond what your leaders have told you look at this situation again and you will realize that it is inconsequential which god or what we worship for an inescapable perspective awaits us out there.......

Arwen, aren't you like, getting overboard with the whole religion thing? I mean, okay if you want to write on religion, but it isn't me who's Anti-Islamic. You've written about the current thing only till the the first paragraph.
After that, you've gone on about the burqas and stuff and that is hardly ahem, new.

Personally, it's funny. I'm not religious. Yet religion is causing you to get uptight. Perhaps, it's a good thing I don't let stupid stuff like religious differences affect me.

well...i went into flashback, sorta..
